the GenS team
The “from-Gene-to-Structure” schools are organized by an international team of scientists involved in multiple aspects of structural biology.
Besides being accomplished researchers, we are all very experienced in training and outreach.
Benny Danilo Belviso
IC-CNR, Bari (Italy)
Dedicated researcher exploring structural proteins, medically and biotechnologically relevant enzymes using crystallography, solution scattering, spectroscopic, and computational techniques.
Alessandro Grinzato
Università di Padova, Padua (Italy)
Structural biologist with a strong cryo-EM, molecular dynamics, and molecular docking background. Focused on the biological structure-function relationship of protein flexibility.
Vincenzo Mangini
IC-CNR, Bari (Italy)
Enthusiastic researcher with multidisciplinary expertise in bioinorganic and protein chemistry, nanotechnology and structural biology.
Marco Mazzorana
Diamond Light Source, Didcot (UK)
Beamline scientist in the Macromolecular Crystallography group of the UK National Synchrotron. Expertise in integrative structural biology of enzymes and membrane proteins with particular interest in reaction mechanisms, biotechnological applications and drug discovery.
Cecilia Pozzi
Università di Siena, Siena (Italy)
Associate Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Department of Biotechnology, Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Siena. Expert in structural biology of cancer, parasite and bacterial diseases.
Anna Giovanna Sciancalepore
IC-CNR, Bari (Italy)
Research scientist with multidisciplinary expertise in biomaterials, nanotechnology and molecularbiology, specialized in engineered biomaterials and complex microfluidic chips, currently involved in the crystallization and structural characterization of biological macromolecules and protein-ligand complexes of pharmacological or biotechnological interest.
Giancarlo Tria
IC-CNR, Caserta (Italy)
Computational and experimental structural biologist with experience in multimodal data-driven macromolecular modelling combining data from complementary structural biology techniques (i.e., cryoTEM, MX, BioSAXS, and structural bioinformatics).
